Desk Report:The hospital has no renewal of any documents, there is only one doctor in name. The cleanliness is also very poor. Even then, the patient is admitted and the operation is being carried out. The surgeon is the anesthesia doctor. Although the mother was saved by caesarean section in such a hospital, the death of the newborn could not be prevented.
The incident took place on Sunday (December 8) morning at the Narayanpur General Hospital (Pvt.) and Consultation Center in Matlab Dakshin Narayanpur Purba Bazar in Chandpur.
Lima (19), the wife of autorickshaw driver Md. Russell of Rostam Molla Bari in Khidirpur village of the upazila, was brought to this hospital when she was in labor. First, an ultrasonogram was done. An attempt was made to perform a normal delivery on the grounds that the baby was alive. But later it was said that the baby was dead in the womb. After a cesarean section was performed by a doctor named Billal Sheikh without a degree, the guardians forged his signature, and the baby was found dead. Then the parents started making a fuss.
Housewife Lima’s mother-in-law Fatema Begum said, “This is my son’s first child. Lima has regular checkups. When we suddenly got in labor last night, when we contacted her, hospital nurse Shefali Begum first went to the house and tried to deliver. When she couldn’t, she brought us to this hospital.
Russell’s elder sister Nurjahan Begum said, “When I asked if there was a good doctor to perform a cesarean section in this hospital, they said there was a doctor. But looking at their activities before and after the delivery, I realized that the entire hospital was mismanaged.”
The father of the deceased newborn, Md. Russell, said, “I could not understand the situation in this hospital in any way. I was subjected to maltreatment due to the mismanagement of the hospital.”
Syed Al-Amin, Managing Director of Narayanpur General Hospital (Pvt.) and Consultation Center, was asked to know the name and identity of the doctor who performed the cesarean section. He could not provide any information and the hospital does not have any information about that doctor. After much questioning, he spoke of a doctor named Billal Bhai.
Mostafa Emon Chowdhury, Resident Medical Officer of the hospital, said, “After bringing this patient in the morning, I myself tried to provide first aid. But I have never seen the person who performed the cesarean section before. The MD of the hospital called him on the phone.”
Matlab Dakshin Upazila Health, Family and Planning Officer Dr. Mohib Ullah Sourav said, “If the victims complain, legal action will be taken.” And if the hospital’s documents have not been renewed, there is still time to do so.
